Have you ever wondered how robots are able to move, see, and complete tasks? A robot is a machine that is designed to do a job. Some robots work in factories, where they help build cars, package food, or move heavy objects. Others can clean floors, explore space, assist doctors, or help people learn in classrooms.
Robots come in many shapes and sizes. Some have arms, wheels, cameras, or gripping tools. Others may look more like animals or people. Even though robots can seem intelligent, they do not think exactly like humans. They follow instructions created by people through computer programs.
Most robots have several important parts. Their bodies are made from materials such as metal, plastic, or rubber. Motors help them move, while sensors help them gather information about the world around them. For example, a robot may use a camera to recognize an object or a sensor to avoid bumping into a wall.
A robot also needs a source of power. Many use batteries, while larger robots may plug into an outlet. The computer inside the robot acts like its brain. It receives information from sensors, follows its instructions, and tells the motors what to do next.
